Context and background that is important or relevant to my audience is past design and marketing experience as well as reaching key performance indicators. Employers will want to see that I can both create designs on my own and implement feedback from stakeholders and customer research.

For this artifact, I led survey and interview customer research, facilitated team synthesis of research, and spearheaded low-fidelity app designs. We consulted advisors in the McMillon Innovation Studio and incorporated feedback from our primary stakeholder, 37 North Expedition. The result is a fully prototyped low fidelity design and customer research report.

Throughout this project, I continued to develop my interviewing, data analysis, and design skills while sharpening my ability to lead a team and teach them how to develop these skills with me. I appreciated the design and user research experience that I got working on my McMillon design team last year and as a cofounder at Mission: Mentor. It certainly came in handy and helped me articulate instructions to my team so that they could jump in on deliverables. One challenge I faced while leading this project was the fact that my team was entirely made up of male team members. While I was initially a bit nervous, they were very receptive to my leadership, and we were able to develop a productive and fun team culture. I was most proud of my ability to continuing to develop my UI/UX design skills while teaching my team principles. It was very rewarding to watch my team have fun learning how to prototype on Figma, which they said was one of the most fun meetings we had.

As a result of this project, we have a proposed digital solution that can be implemented to make the wonderful NWA outdoor scene more accessible to all groups, whether they are beginners, disabled, or have other limitations. I hope to use the skills I learned to continue diving into research to understand user needs and enable individual entrepreneurs and companies to create human-centered designs. I would be interested in learning more about ML and quickly synthesizing large quantities of data.
